Now that you’ve decided it’s time to start your transformation into a new body and lifestyle, the next step is to develop your strategy. It’s not enough to just eat less and start walking on a treadmill. You need to seek knowledge first in order to achieve life lasting results.
What are your options?
With so many infomercial gimmicks, fad diets and magazine diets of the stars, it can be confusing and frustrating as to which direction would suit you the best. Now, many choose this route and some are successful with it. You could wing it with whatever preexisting knowledge you already have. Some will research nutrition on their own and attack it by themselves as best they can. While others will seek outside help, usually from a trainer, friend or family member whose understanding of weight loss exceeds their own. Which now leads us to the next step of outlining your plan.
What to Avoid
This step can be simple and complicated at the same time. Easily avoided marketing ploys are anything that offers too good to be true results (like 20 pounds in 20 days.) And I’m sure you’ve seen things like this – Order these meal replacement shakes and lose weight – alongside before and after photos with no explanation of the training or eating besides the shakes. I’d also advise to steer clear of the meals in the mail method or point systems. I will admit that these can prove effective in the short term, but they rarely yield lasting results. The problem with these are you don’t come away with any new found knowledge of nutrition and proper eating habits. Not to mention, frozen food isn’t a healthy option. Those meals are loaded with preservatives and we want you looking healthy on the outside as well as being healthy on the inside.
Choosing a Direction
If you haven’t already figured it out, my number one concern is you to educated yourself first. If you’re extremely tight financially, I recommend researching from the best trainers and experts online and locally. Ask questions to those you respect and read until you are blue in the face. With the internet, there is so much information readily available to you in an instant, and that’s how I got started! If you can afford to hire someone with a proven resume to help you get there, that’s a great option. Now if you take that route, which is what I think is your best option, don’t just take instructions and that’s it. Ask them questions – Why are we doing this or eating that instead of this? Learn as much as you can from that individual while doing your own research at home. This way when your time is done with your trainer, you can be completely self-sufficient in maintaining your new body and lifestyle.
The Decision
At this point, you’ve decided on the plan you’re going to implement to achieve success. Now it’s time to start mapping out how your going to fit this into your current life while maintaining present responsibilities. Make sure to think this through or it can get extremely difficult and will increase your chances of stumbling in your journey. The most important part of this step is to be all-in on your strategy. Sometimes results can come slow, but be sure to give it the proper amount of time before adjusting or changing your plan altogether. But now you are ready to take action. The decision has been made so go attack your goals.
The next and final installment will discuss the ins and outs of that last and most important step, so stay tuned!!
